Wearing a hat: Hats are a part of the required baseball uniform for any player on the baseball field defensively speaking. This rule is there for a reason sun light plays a role in loosing a batted ball in fight, which results in a ball in your face.
My Friend the Glove: Treat you glove with respect, it's the only thing between you and that screaming baseball coming at you. Anyone on my team knows it's five push-ups for leaving you're friend behind at practice or after a game or even throwing your friend up into the air during either.
Warm-up: Stretching, jogging & throwing before any game and practice. This requires you as a parent to make sure your player is there 30 minutes before game or practice time.
Hydrate up: Drink lots of water during these hot summer games, bring sports drinks to practices and games.
Pitch Count: Age 9-14, this is the most over looked safety item of all... Note the pitch count table below and if your coach is pitching them more than that, get on them it's your kid and his/her future and the health of their aims they are messing with...
Recommended limits for youth pitchers are as follows:
This doesn't cover throws made in the game once removed from the pitching mount, most pitchers stay in the game at another position once removed which adds to the wear and tear on their young growing bodies.
